BODi Bike Studio

I led the design of this tablet screen for a stationary bike, which included Apple Watch and heart rate monitor integration

The feature set

The bike had a 21.5” screen and the embedded app connected with the bike hardware to show stats like cadence, speed and calories burned. The app offered live news streams, live interactive workouts, scenic rides, and a huge library of cycling workouts.

Our Design Approach

This was a brand new platform, so we did various rounds of user testing before putting the app in market.

Live Classes

The bike included our on-demand workouts and fitness programs, but users could also join live cycling classes. We designed the before, during, and post states, as well as the class schedule.

Heart Rate tracking

The bike shipped with a heart rate monitor and heart rate zone training was a key part of the cycling workouts. So heart rate tracking, and showing your heart rate on-screen was a requirement.

We integrated our Apple Watch app, and designed an innovative line chart that showed your heart rate progress over the course of the ride, with the color of the line corresponding with the zone you’re in.

The launch was a success and drove $4.8 million in sales in its first year.
